The Corinth Canal Experience
the-corinth-canal-experience
A cinematic encounter with one of Greece’s most striking landmarks, seen from an unexpected perspective.
THE STORY
For the Hellenic Growth Fund's presence at the Thessaloniki International Fair, we were invited, in collaboration with Headline Athens and MSCOMM, to develop an experience around one of Greece's most recognisable pieces of infrastructure: the Corinth Canal.
The objective was not simply to show visitors a film.
It was to put them inside one.
THE STORY
What looked simple to the participant required several disciplines to operate as a single system: cinematic lighting and camera capture, green-screen keying, 3D environment creation, compositing, automation and near-real-time rendering and delivery.
The technology had to disappear behind the experience.
There were no editors manually finishing each film and no lengthy turnaround. The production workflow had to transform a few seconds in front of a camera into an individual piece of branded content while the visitor was still experiencing the activation.
THE STORY
Ace House Productions designed and built a dedicated cinematic green-screen environment inside the exhibition space. Visitors — individually, with friends or together as a family — stepped in front of our camera for approximately twenty seconds.
From there, the physical and digital production pipelines became one.
Their captured performance was automatically integrated into a photorealistic 3D sequence in which they appeared to travel through the Corinth Canal aboard a motor yacht.
Within moments, the finished personalised film was generated and delivered directly to the visitor's email.
THE STORY
Instead of asking people to watch content about an iconic Greek landmark, we made them part of the content themselves.
