The Santorini Experience

From an exhibition floor in Shanghai to the skies above Santorini.
Following the concept of real-time personalised filmmaking, Ace House Productions was invited to create another immersive experience — this time for Enterprise Greece at an international exhibition in Shanghai.
Visitors entered our green-screen environment in Shanghai and, seconds later, found themselves inside a cinematic sequence flying in a single-engine aircraft above the Caldera of Santorini.
The challenge was to turn one of Greece's most internationally recognisable landscapes into something more engaging than conventional destination footage.
Instead of watching Santorini on a screen, visitors could become part of the image.
Our workflow combined live camera acquisition with a digitally created environment and automated compositing, generating an individual video for each participant and transforming a physical booth interaction into personalised content they could take away with them.
The project demonstrated how film production, 3D environments and automation can work together to create scalable experiences for international exhibitions.
And, in a setting where hundreds of organisations compete simultaneously for visitors' attention, the experience created something fundamentally different:
A piece of Greece in which every visitor became the main character.
